Director of Orthopedic Services

The Provider Network Services (PNS) Director of Orthopedic Services (DOS) functions in a leadership role within PNS, and works in collaboration with physicians, Assistant Director (AD), and Senior Leadership staff. The DOS is responsible for the success of the overall orthopedic service line, including long-term goals and daily operations. The DOS ensures the orthopedic clinic(s) operate efficiently, effectively, and delivers distinctive clinical quality and patient satisfaction results. The DOS is responsible for successful development and implementation of the strategic, operational, and financial direction and performance for the orthopedic service line. The DOS will provide leadership and coordination of all aspects of orthopedic services and quality patient care by ensuring efficient operation of the orthopedic clinic to include staff performance, patient care processes, patient outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction. The DOS scope of accountability includes overseeing and understanding all relevant dimensions of the services included in the orthopedic service line. The DOS will facilitate performance improvement processes with a focus on patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, as well as clinical quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration/business, clinical science, or related field required.
- Master's degree in healthcare administration/business, clinical science, or related field preferred
Experience
- Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience required. (7 years preferred.)
- Five (5) years specific medical practice administration experience required. (7 years preferred.)
- Five (5) years orthopedic specific medical practice experience preferred.
- Five (5) years leading large medical group preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through the American College of Medical Practice Management or equivalent preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for Conway Medical Center (CMC) and PNS behavioral standards by always demonstrating the CMC Core Values.
- Take accountability for the overall operational and financial performance, including planning, coordinating, and implementing business plan and strategic vision.
- Serves as a strategic partner with CMC and PNS leadership to develop and achieve service line plans for financial performance, clinical quality, service excellence, and patient centered priorities.
- Partner with providers to develop strategic objectives for growth, excellence, market differentiation, and multi-specialty clinical collaboration across the system.
- Develop annual capital and operating budgets in partnership with CMC and PNS financial departments to manage the clinics to meet or exceed budgeted performance expectations.
- Oversee all aspects of the daily operations of the orthopedic clinic(s) including business expansion; office coding, billing, and collections; patient service design; employee management and training; corporate and regulatory compliance; risk management; policy & procedure management; medical record management; technical issues to include information technology; physical office issue resolution; physician issue resolution; daily flow and evaluating standards of care for patients.
- Direct, evaluate, and monitor performance of orthopedic clinic(s) responsibilities to ensure the delivery of services meet cost, quality, safety, and experience requirements to achieve operational goals.
- Maintain a working knowledge of orthopedic clinical workflow in the outpatient setting with ability to present new approaches and provide the support needed to facilitate change implementation.
- Ability to effectively influence decisions and outcomes, facilitate consensus, and work collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
- Demonstrate leadership ability by working effectively under stress and in fluid working conditions.
- Analyze complex problems, prioritize, address, and develop recommendations and solutions while exercising independent judgment and effective critical thinking skills.
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management fundamentals to include the CPT/ICD-9 coding, billing, reimbursements, collections, referral management and prior authorization processes. Must have a general understanding of physician and hospital-based billing principles.
- Maintain a working knowledge of business development; ASC Dynamics; Orthopedic trends and Pain management.
