Job Overview: Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.#PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients# rights in all aspects of patient care and report#issues to the appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort.#Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.# Unit Description: The Orthopedic Surgical Unit is a 32-bed unit located on the 5th floor of the new Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital.# This unit is dedicated to providing high-quality innovative care to those individuals who need hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. The team also provides care to a wide variety of patients with medical surgical needs.## The unit consists of all private rooms that provide modern conveniences for the patient and family.# A therapy gym#is centrally located in the unit. An interprofessional team consisting of registered nurses, clerical associates, patient care technicians, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Case Managers, and Social Workers provide exceptional care to our patients.# Additionally, the Joint Replacement patients have a medical management team.# If you are interested in providing high quality innovative care, please join our team. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education: Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire. Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred# Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
Salary Range
$15.82 - $20.56
