  • Anticipated Class Dates: Monday, Nov 4th - Friday, Dec 13th, 2024.
  • Days: Primarily 4 days/week 8:00am-3:30pm. Once clinical piece begins, schedule is shifted to 7am-3:30pm. Occasional Saturdays could occur. Part time status.
  • **Anticipated Orientation Dates: HR orientation MUST be completed prior to first day of class.

Sunnyside Retirement Community is actively seeking Nurse Aide Student(s) to participate in our paid CNA student course. Contribute quality work to a historically exceptional senior living community. The selected candidate(s) will complete the 6-week paid course anticipated to begin Monday, November 4th and anticipated to end around Friday, December 13th. The class is primarily 4 days/week 8:00am-3:30pm. Once clinical piece begins, schedule is shifted to 7am-3:30pm. (Approximately ~28 hours/week), with occasional Saturdays possible. Once C.N.A. licensure is achieved, graduates could be eligible for part time or full time opportunities.

It is important that those interested in the C.N.A. class are eager to provide compassionate person-centered care, collaborate with staff to assist residents with activities of daily living (grooming, bathing, dining, moving, etc)., once licensure is received. C.N.A.'s are a crucial component to our successful operation. They are essential team members who build genuine relationships with residents, making a difference in the lives of our residents, their loved-ones, and the community. It is critical that the selected candidate(s) effectively and respectfully communicate both verbally and written with anyone they may come into contact with, including but not limited to; residents, their family, guests, co-workers, team-leaders, and more.

Requirements

If offered employment and accepted, the following information will be obtained and require satisfactory results as part of the employee onboarding process:
  • Satisfactory References (Please note: references CANNOT be spouse, or family. At least 1 reference must be a previous instructor, supervisor, lead, manager, or someone you reported to).
  • Completion of Onboarding Packet within 24 hours of receipt
  • Virginia State Police background check
  • National background check
  • Sex offender registry check
  • OIG check
  • Clinic Visit (Drug screening, and TB skin test/PPD).
  • Employment is contingent on satisfactory results and C.N.A. class students will follow the same criteria as any direct care employee. Participants must complete the full program and pass both the written and skills tests on site to be eligible to take the VA Board of Nursing C.N.A exam.

Requirements:
  • Sunnyside's Nurse Aide Training (NAT) program will accept up to eight (8) participants total.
  • Prospective participants will need to complete a Sunnyside Application for Employment.
  • C.N.A. class student employees must remain a member of Sunnyside's staff for at least 6 months following the completion of the program in order to obtain this benefit. If not, employee is responsible for paying Sunnyside Retirement Community the full amount invested in the training program for either of the following reasons: 1) Employee decides not to complete the program and/or employee resigns from Sunnyside. 2) Employee resigns from Sunnyside during the six-month period following the completion date of the program.
  • Each applicant will be interviewed and screened by Human Resources and/or the Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor/Administrator.
  • Once accepted into the program and offered employment, a criminal record, sex offender registry and OIG check will be obtained as part of the employment background investigation process. In addition, a drug screen and TB skin test (PPD) will be conducted. Continued employment/acceptance into the program is contingent on the results of these screenings and will follow the same criteria as any direct care employee.
  • Participants must complete new hire orientation with human resources before starting the program.
  • Attendance is essential to successfully completing the Nurse Aide Training Program; more than one absence and one late during the twelve-week program will be considered unacceptable. If more time is missed, you may be terminated from employment/the program. Make up days will be determined by instructor.
  • Participants must complete the full program and pass both the written and skills tests on site to be eligible to take the VA Board of Nursing C.N.A exam.
  • To start training in healthcare or assisted living. NASG's will have 120 days to prepare and pass the VA Board of Nursing C.N.A exam.
  • Sunnyside will pay one (1) exam fee for each NASG. If the VA Board of Nursing C.N.A exam is failed, employment may terminate.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, or older.

Physical and Environmental Considerations:

Work Environment: This job operates in a residential style nursing environment with normal lighting levels (except where lighting is reduced in resident rooms), comfortable temperature ranges, good air quality, ventilation and low noise levels.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time. Additionally employee will routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 60 lbs or less and occasionally more than 60 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Work Hazards: Contact with blood, body fluids. Minimal hazards if required Universal Precautions are followed.
