Youth Minister

Staff Position: Youth Minister

The Youth Minister is responsible for sharing in the ministry of the pastor of St. Pius X parish in his duty to lead our young people to a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ and a profound love for His Church. The Youth Minister will work collaboratively with the pastor and all members of the parish and school staff to advance this mission of proclaiming the Gospel and forming disciples of Jesus.
Work responsibilities will total five to ten hours a week. Work hours will be flexible, consisting mostly of evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:
 Planning a monthly CYO general meeting.
 Coordinating youth leadership board and their monthly planning meetings.
 Coordinating CYO Sports (volleyball, basketball, cabbageball) including the use of St. Pius X gym to host other parishes.
 Coordinating a CYO activity twice a month - spiritual, service-oriented, or social. This would include archdiocesan events or events planned in conjunction with other local parishes.
 Assist the Director of Religious Education in implementing the parish Confirmation preparation program for juniors in high school.
 Attend all staff meetings to coordinate with staff on upcoming youth ministry events. If there are times when attendance is not possible, send a summary of upcoming events and any needed support.
 Ensure implementation and compliance of all youth program-related policies and procedures of the archdiocese, such as safe environment, transportation, liability matters, etc.

Professional Requirements:
 Must be an active, practicing Catholic in good standing, striving to live in conformity with the moral teachings of the Church.
 Must have the knowledge and desire to hand on the Catholic Faith.
 Must enjoy working with people, especially high-schoolers, with a welcoming personality.
 Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
 Must have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
 Must be self-motivated.
