About the role

Located in Lorton, VA and reporting to the Supervisor/Lead, the Heavy Equipment Operator promotes safe and efficient operation of all equipment associated with the power plant facility. Heavy equipment includes, but is not limited to: skid steer, front end loader, backhoe, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

* Receive and process materials, through the safe operation of various types of industrial equipment, material handling equipment, conveyor systems, and various hand tools


* Traffic Control for incoming/outgoing traffic


* Assist facility mechanic(s) with equipment repairs; taking appropriate action on their own initiative to prevent equipment damage or personnel injury.


* Maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping, performing preventative maintenance tasks, assisting with, and performing minor equipment repair work, handling municipal solid waste and solid waste residue in accordance with standard operating procedures, and painting and cleaning as required.



Position Requirements & Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred

- Reworld offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.

A minimum of 1 year experience operating industrial heavy equipment such as Front -end Loader

Physical Demands of the Role:

* Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
* Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
* Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
* Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
* Consistently work in various weather conditions

Shift Work:

Position works a 12-hour night shift (5 on-2 off-4 on-4 off-4 on-2 off). Must have flexibility to alternate schedules based on business needs.
