TITLE: Behavior Interventionist

QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's Degree in psychology, counseling, social work or related field
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding behavioral interventions, behavior modification techniques and behavioral treatment plans, functional behavioral assessments, positive behavioral supports, group and individual counseling

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education or designee

SUPERVISES: None

JOB GOAL: To provide support, monitoring, and training of behavior management techniques, intervention strategies, coping skills, and problem solving skills for students with behavioral challenges.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as Special Services Representative for suspensions and expulsions.

2. Assists teachers in the design of appropriate behavior management programs for

individual students and targeted classrooms.

3. Conducts activities that strengthen the home/school relationship to promote success in

the school environment.

4. Collects data and records with student progress notes, maintains and organizes group

counseling/intervention, and implements program modification.

5. Assists teachers and Pupil Appraisal Staff in the design and implementation of Behavior

Intervention Plans.

6. Works collaboratively with school administrators and other personnel in implementing

appropriate strategies and techniques to address student behavior concerns.

7. Works directly with the school system and other service providers to establish and

coordinate cooperative working relationships.

8. Works directly with consultants to plan and conduct training sessions.

9. Establishes a training and support group for parents of children with behavioral or

emotional disabilities.

10. Provides in-service to all school personnel upon request.

11. Assists with the monitoring of schools to assure that the regulations concerning the

discipline of students with disabilities are being implemented in accordance with

district, state, and federal regulations.

12. Performs all such other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months

SALARY: In accordance with the teacher salary schedule
