What Does a Driver/Helper Do Anyway?
- Safely maneuver a 24-foor box truck through residential streets and tight locations
- Complete pre-trip and post trip inspections
- Receive donations from donors at home pickups or box locations
- Return to the store and unload all the donations
- Lift up to 70 lbs.
- Sort, stack and process donations by category
- Safely transport materials to and from work area using hand trucks, pallet jacks, other lifting devices and/or employee assistance
- Share information about our charity partners and our mission with our donors

Be home every night and make a difference Are you ready to join our healthy, growing organization where you can make a substantial impact on local charities while being at home every night? We are looking for Box Truck Drivers for a route collection program that have not only a great work ethic, but also have demonstrated customer service skills. This position provides a unique opportunity for those looking to combine their love of driving and their love for serving the public.
Daily functions include truck inspections, mapping, picking up and unloading large and odd shaped items weighing up to 70 pounds. In addition, this role will require accurate record keeping of route data, driver's log and truck maintenance records.
Primary Job Duties
- Completes all daily residential routes picking up clothing, small furniture and other household items from donors, donation boxes and donation sites
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Safely maneuvers and operates a 24' box truck through residential streets and tight spaces
- Provides exemplary customer service to customers and donors
- Maintains contact with supervisor to receive donor request changes
- Maintains a courteous, respectful, and friendly attitude with the public
- Partners with Driver Helper to safely load and unload materials onto or from vehicles, pallets, carts, racks, shelves, etc.
- Transports materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using hand truck, pallet jack or other lifting devices and/or employee assistance.
- Effectively sort, stack, and process incoming donations by category, (i.e., clothes, misc, electrical, etc.), in a safe and organized manner according to company standards when unloading trucks.
- Safely use compactors and large trash receptacles when necessary.
- Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess navigation skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours and days from Monday through Sunday, but not to exceed DOT regulated hours
- Ability to remain flexible in daily schedule in order ensure that every donor and box route is completed each day they are scheduled
- Must pass background check, drug screen and motor vehicle record check
