Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services for Personalized Education and Related Services, the chief responsibility of the BCBA is to provide behavioral and socioemotional supports for special education students to improve academic outcomes for eligible students. The BCBA works in tandem with other student services professionals such as special education teachers, school counselors, and school psychologists to develop data-driven strategies and interventions designed to support student growth and achievement. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and write reports summarizing results; develop behavior/ treatment plans that focus on teaching strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s);
  • Consult with special education teachers to develop positive behavioral supports utilizing evidence-based interventions;
  • Assess a student's instructional needs and develop appropriate behavioral programming; provide ongoing monitoring of student data and make programming adjustments as needed;
  • Develop tools and work with staff to collect progress-monitoring data on behavioral goals; create ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy;
  • Function in a supervisory capacity and provide oversight to the training of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other paraprofessionals (internal and contracted) who implement behavior-analytic interventions to ensure positive behavior support plans and instructional programs;
  • Provide professional development and coaching/consultation to staff and IEP teams on behavioral best practices and evidence-based interventions; and
  • Provide ongoing support and training to direct support professionals, ABA implementers, and other individuals in support roles for families; facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for students and their families.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), school psychology, or a related program
  • Valid PDE School Psychologist K-12 Certification, or Valid PDE Special Education K-12 Certification, or Valid PDE School Counselor K-12 Certification, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certificate obtained through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • A minimum of three-year's experience with the implementation of ABA treatment plans or positive behavior support plans (PBSPs); Safety-Care certification (or comparable crisis prevention/response certification)
