The Director of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Studies shall work under the direction of the Dean of Business, Technology & Public Service, and shall provide oversight of purchasing, receiving, department budgets, course scheduling, marketing, assistance and Culinary Arts Club oversight, community networking and trainings, advisory board, curriculum development, programmatic accreditations, and oversight of training facility and faculty and department employees. The Director shall maintain commitment to quality instruction, the primary objective of the institution. This leader will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students.

Please note: This is a 12-month position.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution (culinary arts, hospitality, business, organizational management, etc.).
* Seven years of hospitality and or culinary arts related experience.
* Three years of teaching and online instruction experience at a postsecondary institution.
* Experience of interdepartmental functions; including, purchasing, budgets, networking, community, and public relations.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution.
* Four or more years of teaching at a postsecondary institution.
* Supervisory experience.
* Curriculum development.
* Experience in culinary arts, baking & pastry, management, & hotel operations.

Essential Functions

* Oversee and manage duties relating to accreditation and development.
* Purchasing, receiving, and budgeting.
* Curriculum and program design to support programs and trainings.
* Coordinating with community needs for apprenticeship and internship training activities.
* Assist with competitions and student club activities.
* Marketing and program information sessions.
* Oversight, evaluate, and supervise Faculty and employees in both Culinary Arts and Hospitality.
* Responsible for industry partnerships for graduate employment opportunities.
* Coordination with Prior Learning Assessment.
* Other duties as required or directed by the Division Dean.

General Duties, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Establish clear and logical goals and objectives.
* Responsible for the oversight of all equipment, training needs, and budgets.
* Responsible for internal planning, administration and program development, and external relations with other program divisions, departments, agencies, and the general public.
* Responsible for new and existing articulations.
* Reporting to the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Advisory Board membership.
* Review industry trends, identify employer needs, and program data reports.
* Maintains program needs and communication.
* Assist with CUA and HOS student advising when needed.
