The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with Central Texas Community Health Centers "CommUnityCare," seeks a psychologist to join our clinical faculty and serve on our clinical team in the Women's Reproductive Mental Health of Texas (WRMH) program in Austin, Texas. We seek a psychologist with a comprehensive approach to mental health care who will help our Department and the WRMH achieve our goal of working with our community partners to develop clinical, educational and research initiatives that honor the communities of central Texas while revolutionizing how women get and stay mentally healthy proximate to reproductive life events that are unique to women, including preconception planning, pregnancy and the postpartum period.

The Department promotes innovation in training methods, research and service to the community. Our department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and its post-graduate programs train mental health professionals to become 21st-century leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology. Clinical services provide well-informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings. Importantly, the Department is leading efforts at UT Austin to execute cutting-edge basic and clinical research that illuminates the underlying neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and identifies novel treatments for psychiatric disorders.

To help us achieve these goals, we seek candidates who are committed to providing care within a broad and growing community and have a strong record of providing exemplary care and treatment that restores hope and helps patients live healthier, fuller lives. A clinical assignment will occur through our department's collaboration with CommUnityCare within the Intensive Outpatient Care programs to provide consultation and direct care for patients suffering from co-occurring conditions, including mental illness, addiction, homelessness and chronic medical conditions.

The psychologist will provide initial diagnostic evaluations, consultation and follow-up treatment for women struggling with mental health issues in a collaborative, interprofessional team approach. Depending on leadership skills, the candidate may progress to clinical and/or academic leadership positions.

The successful candidate's appointment within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School requires regular participation in educational activities with fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees. The psychologist will have additional opportunity for collaboration that allows for the pursuit of innovative clinical programming, education and research initiatives.
