QUALIFICATIONS:

* NJ Instructional Certificate (CEAS, CE or Standard) with the Preschool-3 or N-8 endorsement (K-6 certificate is not eligible for this position).
* Experience with preschool age students preferred.
* Demonstrated knowledge of effective early childhood and inclusion teaching practices and developmentally appropriate, differentiated classroom activities.
* Familiarity with Creative Curriculum a plus.
* Ability to maintain a learning environment inclusive of learners of all abilities.
* Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
* Pass mandatory pre- employment physical, including drug screening in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A: 16-2(b)
* Pass mandatory criminal history screening in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
* Consistent attendance as defined by the New Jersey Department of Education.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google and general computer skills.
* Possess a valid drivers' license and ability to drive to various early childhood education sites.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOALS: To provide regular or supplementary services to preschool children during teacher preparatory and lunch periods.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provides content, skills and established proficiencies and supplementary instruction utilizing appropriate curriculum guides/courses of study, text materials (adopted by the Board of Education) and other innovative approaches as developed by the classroom teacher consistent with the district's educational goals and objectives.
* Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
* Supports the instructional plans of the classroom teacher to provide continuity of instruction, and allow the learning process to continue for students during lunch and teacher prep periods.
* Designs instructional strategies and remediation to ensure targeted skill instruction based upon progress data.
* Selects adaptive instructional materials to meet the needs of all students with support and guidance from the Preschool Instructional Coach.
* Develops gross motor needs of all students.
* Incorporates technology into the teaching/learning process to provide all students with an opportunity to succeed.
* Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school and district.
* Collaborates and communicates with the Special Education Department in providing appropriate services for special needs students.
* Ensures confidentiality of student information.
* Attends and participates in faculty meetings, PLC, grade level and district wide meetings and serves on staff committees as requested and fulfills required duties.
* Participates in parent meetings, as appropriate, to discuss pupil's progress and responds to parent communication on an ongoing basis, treating parents as partners in the educational program for their children.
* Confers with the Community Parent Involvement Specialist, Special Education staff/administration, preschool classroom teachers, and PIRT Team on a regular basis to ensure appropriate support for students, and parents.
* Maintains a level of professional competence appropriate to the specific area of early childhood learners including children with special developmental and learning needs. Seeks opportunities for professional growth and completes all mandated professional training required by law or the district, including but not limited to, training on the curriculum materials, assessment procedures, etc.
* Participates in the construction, development and evaluation of curriculum guides appropriate to one's academic discipline and/or grade level assignment.
* Performs other related professional duties as assigned by administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Consistent attendance
* Willing to assist students with feeding, basic hygiene and toileting needs and behavioral needs.
* Able to push, pull, bend, twist, kneel, lift 50 lbs.
* Able to physically move quickly to respond to emergent situations to ensure student safety.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten months

SALARY: To be determined by the Board of Education

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
