Residence Life On-call Staff

This on-call position provides professional on-call (phone) and response (in-person on campus) for the Department of Residence Life and Simpson College and is the first call for student staff in the event of an emergency or consultation need. The On-call duty is rotated between professional staff, generally for a week at a time.

* Participate in a rotating on-call duty schedule throughout the year with other professional staff in Residence Life. While on-call, responding to any needs that arise in the residential facilities through consultation or in-person response.
* Participate in training and team meetings with Residence Life staff
* Maintain accurate documentation and file incident reports as necessary.
* Maintain communication with physical plant/custodial staff and EMS staff.
* Employed by Simpson College in a full-time exempt status position.


* Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse individuals in routine, high stress, and emergency situations and to help defuse emotionally charged situations.


* Communication skills: ability to read, write, type, and run computer software (Office suite/Teams) in order to prepare reports and communicate (verbally and in writing) with students and staff.


* Ability to reason, think clearly, and use problem solving skills to respond to widely varied situations.


* Ability to take charge of a situation/scene when needed and delegate tasks to others.


* Knowledge of first aid and CPR (training can be provided by Simpson College).


* Mobility to walk in order to respond to situations on campus.


* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
