General Summary

Supervises therapy staff for a specific clinical section. Develops programs and monitors quality of care for patients and promotes effective communication with other professional groups in a section. Provides clinical expertise in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Serves as a role model to all rehabilitation employees by providing quality direct patient care effectively and efficiently.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.

Required Length and Type of Experience

Minimum three years experience as a therapist. Previous supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Required Licensure or Certification

Current licensure as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist in the State of Ohio in the State of Ohio.

Required Physical and Environmental Demands

Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during gait training. Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program. Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse. Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements. Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read, and for employee communications. Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment. Mental ability to interpret clinical data for the establishment and implementation of appropriate patient treatment. Requires analytical, critical thinking and judgment skills.
