# POSITION SUMMARY: Performs, interprets and evaluates routine and complex diagnostic procedures applying the principles, theories and techniques of Medical laboratory sciences. EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor#s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or medical laboratory science. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certification (Medical Lab Science, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Banking, Molecular Biology) by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or similar agency. EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Minimum: N/A Preferred:# One year healthcare or lab related work experience # ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs analysis on laboratory specimens following standard protocol and reports results and findings in a timely fashion. Operates, calibrates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory instruments following policy and procedures or manufacturer#s published specifications. Performs quality control and proficiency testing and accurately documents according to established guidelines. Assists in orientation and education of medical laboratory science students and new employees. Researches and develops new procedures or instruments and participates in special projects as assigned. Maintains and utilizes supplies and reagents within established budgetary parameters. Performs phlebotomy and EKG tasks based on patient volume. Maintains the functions of a General Supervisor as defined under CLIA guidelines and as delegated by the Laboratory Medical Director.
