Overview

This position is accountable to assist therapists in providing direct patient care, provide independent individual and group patient treatment following explicit directions from the licensed professional and to assist the department with numerous clerical and environmental tasks as required to efficiently run the rehabilitation department. May have access to non-controlled medication storage areas on the patient care areas if and only when their job responsibilities require that access, such as transferring non-controlled substance medications from one storage location site to another or when helping other licensed healthcare professionals retrieve non-controlled substance medications.

Responsibilities

Assists therapists and assistants with patient care in a safe and effective manner. Accurately carries out tasks as assigned by the therapist or assistant. Anticipates patient and therapist needs. Recognizes changes in patient status and responds appropriately. Always provides patient privacy and dignity during patient care. Independently seeks knowledge/feedback to improve performance.--------------------------------------------------Adheres to daily schedule: Communicates work schedule changes and downtime according to departmental policies and ensures all assigned duties are covered; Consistently performs duties as assigned and at scheduled/appropriate times minimizing delays; Flexes schedule within normal work day to meet dept/patient care needs (i.e. postpone lunch break, covers in unassigned area) while staying within budgeted hours; Proactively seeks activities during downtime/unassigned time.--------------------------------------------------Cleans, maintains, organizes equipment and space, and performs clerical and other tech duties as outlined by department: Performs assigned tech duties accurately and timely without prompting to avoid delays in patient care and/or regulatory compliance risks to the organization; Consistently completes appropriate documentation of cleaning, maintenance, etc.; Consistently monitors/maintains supplies and materials at par level; Accurately and efficiently completes filing, paperwork, copying and other clerical duties as assigned; Notifies supervisor if unable to complete assigned tasks; Ensures coverage of assigned duties when scheduled off; Ensures malfunctioning equipment is removed from service; Notifies supervisor and follows-up as appropriate or directed.--------------------------------------------------Performs set up and wrap for treatment (includes transports patients): Consistently obtains all typical supplies and equipment for routine treatments; Anticipates needs and prepares appropriately while minimizing waste and maintaining budget; Arranges treatment space to facilitate therapy without prompting; Transports patients to/from therapy in a timely manner; Recognizes complications or changes in patient situations and waits for therapist's direction.--------------------------------------------------Communicates effectively with patients and families: Consistently communicates with patients/families using appropriate language, tone and demeanor while considering patient's age, culture, and needs; Refers questions to appropriate persons; Initiates service recovery and/or seeks assistance appropriately; Resolves conflicts constructively.--------------------------------------------------Teamwork/Flexibility: Considers team priorities for the day when managing own schedule/duties; Consistently offers or seeks help based on the needs of the team and overall priorities; Frequently and consistently adjust schedule throughout the day to meet department or patient needs (related to call outs, influx of new orders, etc.); Consistently offers to flex schedule and duties to support the goals/needs of the department (picks up extra shifts/weekends, works extra around holidays or during high census); Works with team members and leadership to ensure optimal utilization of resources; Willingly floats to other rehab venues/sites following training completion, if needed; Willingly changes rotations during the year to accommodate team needs, if applicable to venue.--------------------------------------------------

Qualifications

EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent, General Studies, Required EXPERIENCE: LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider PREFERRED
