To be fully engaged in providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship, the pharmacy buyer maintains superior quality and outstanding service by cost-effectively procuring pharmaceuticals.

Primary Accountabilities

* Controls preventative drug outages of pharmaceuticals.
* Processes expired and recalled drugs in a timely manner.
* Initiates advance procurement of necessary inventory for disaster and holiday preparedness.
* Processes Pharmacy Contracts.
* Assists clinical manager with up-to-date record of formulary medications approved by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
* Maintains inventory levels based on historical data, market conditions, contracts, census and par levels.
* Participates in pharmaceutical standardization based on goals determined by the Department of Pharmacy.
* Maintains Pharmacy stock in a clean and orderly manner. Arranges medications, IVs, and supplies on stock shelves. Fills floor stock orders.
* Attends pharmacy staff meetings and reads pertinent email communication.
* Reviews contract compliance to reduce off contract purchases when posPHARM001sible.
* Coordinates annual fiscal inventories.
* Maintains interdepartmental charges and credits.
* Ensures invoices are reviewed for accuracy and discrepancies and are paid in a timely manner.
* Provides pharmaceutical and services in a cost-effective manner while adhering to established quality standards.
* High School diploma required, Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college preferred. Basic reading, math and computer skills.
* Three years experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
* Pharmacy Technician Registration for the State of Florida required.
* Formal training or equivalent work experience in pharmacy purchasing for 1-2 years
* Hours may be long and irregular; includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
