Position Information

Requires are least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

* State Certification experience
* Basic understanding of law enforcement policies and protocol
* PowerDMS experience

Position Summary

The State Certification Assistant will assist the Bureau Commander in charge of State Certification, along with the Professional Standards Coordinator with internal and external auditing of all policies, job descriptions, organizational charts, and departmental practices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Ability to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines for auditing purposes
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals on key programs, functions, and policies
* Comprehensive knowledge of general law enforcement practices and procedures
* Experience with PowerDMS
* Experience with Georgia State Certification process

Physical Demands

This position will be consistent with other customary office based positions. Extended hours seated at a computer workstation may be required.

Duties/Responsibilities

State Certification:

Assists the State Certification Manager and Professional Standards Coordinator with tasks related to the certification process including but not limited to:

* Building and maintaining files to document the necessary proofs that standards have been met
* Coordinating with departmental personnel to ensure that agency documentation contains sufficient and appropriate information
* Assisting with the preparation process for both mock and actual audits for State Certification purposes

Percentage of time 75 Duties/Responsibilities

* Assist with special projects within the department
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Percentage of time 25
