JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
Provide district-wide campus-based support for administrators, interventionists, and teachers regarding Response to Intervention (academics and behavior), Section 504, and Dyslexia programs for the district. Support students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators in the identification, evaluation, and development of individualized plans designed to support students in need of intervention.

REQUIREMENTS
Education Level Details
Master's degree from an accredited university

License / Certification Required
Colorado Teaching License in subject area specified

Work Experience Required
Minimum of three years of experience as a teacher
Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience preferred
Experience in education/business/Industry

Other Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of state and federal laws for educating students with disabilities
Knowledge of Section 504 Committee process and 504 Plan goal-setting process
Knowledge of Response to Intervention process and implementation
Knowledge of Dyslexia Programming process and implementation
Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and staff
Ability to implement policies and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively with leadership and campus principals in developing and implementing Section 504 programs.
  • Collaborate with district leaders, campus principals, and interventionists to develop and implement effective response-to-intervention processes and procedures.
  • Monitor special program compliance and track progress.
  • Consult with and assist campus-based administrators, professionals, teachers, and parents to meet the educational needs of students eligible for Section 504 services.
  • Assist campus teams in writing 504 plans that allow students access to the full range of educational and co-curricular opportunities available to all other eligible students in the district.
  • Evaluate the necessity for specific accommodations.
  • Ensure campus teams monitor and review 504 plans and the RtI plan (at least once per school year).
  • Assist in coordinating and planning with outside agencies or persons who act as independent advocates of students where a 504 evaluation has been requested or where a 504 grievance or formal written complaint has been made.
  • Promote, coordinate, and disseminate communication among staff, teachers, students, and the community regarding the prevention of discrimination based on disability, as appropriate.

Instructional Professional Development
  • Collaborate with school leadership and district personnel to develop professional development based on campus identified needs or based on curriculum components.
  • Arrange professional development activities for all teachers in the school or in the district, as needed
  • Provide job embedded professional development to teachers and monitor implementation of development.
  • Attend district provided or facilitated professional development, to include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain professional development in content areas, knowledge and expertise, identify current trends, and provide current information to content area teachers to inform instruction.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate.
