POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides services for psychological evaluations by conducting clinical interviews, administering and interpreting psychological testing, and using collected information to write reports and provide conclusions for recommendations and/or dispositions. Testifies in court to explain types of psychological test and evaluations performed on individuals involved with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department and Juvenile Court.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate in Psychology or related field, and one year of supervised postdoctoral experience in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques. Skill in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals. Ability to interpret psychological test and interview results; ability to formulate diagnostic impressions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees, private attorneys, outside organizations, and the general public. Experience in a correctional environment and/or in conducting forensic psychological evaluations is preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or must be eligible to be licensed within 6 months of employment.
