Full or part-time position for Audiologist to provide services to students in Vermilion County. Job duties are outlined below Full-time position is 190 days with summers off.

Qualifications: Masters or Doctorate in Audiology (degree before January 1, 2008)
Doctorate in Audiology (degree after January 1, 2008)
Meet requirements in Clinical Certification of Competence in Audiology as prescribed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

Compensation: The VEA Collective bargaining agreement allows for individual negotiations based on individual experience. Salary is estimated no less than $65,000 for 190 days of work. $3,000 sign-on bonus. $1,500 retention bonus every three years. Board paid health insurance.

Diagnostics:
1. Conduct comprehensive audiological assessment (using specific audiometric measures appropriate to the child's needs and status) for each child who is referred, as well as any necessary follow-up evaluations, including evaluations with hearing aids or FM systems.
2. Discuss test findings and recommendations as appropriate with parents/guardians of each child evaluated.
3. Develop an audiological summary of testing and make recommendations, based on test results, to be shared with the school and any appropriate medical facilities or other agencies.
4. Conduct impedance screenings with area Early Childhood, Preschool for All, and Head Start programs.

Classroom and Personal FM Systems:
1. Advise school administrators and educators regarding the selection and purchase of auditory training equipment, and further be responsible for the electroacoustic evaluation of such equipment once it is placed in the classroom.
2. Make earmold impressions for use with auditory training equipment and teach earmold care to staff and students
3. Assess and monitor classroom acoustics and the proper use of amplifying equipment.

Aural Rehabilitation:
1. Participate in the development of, and implementation of, aural rehabilitation programs.

Team Membership:
1. Participate in all aspects of EAR team.
2. Participate in interagency teaming as appropriate with individual children or programs.
3. Meet monthly with area educational audiologists for professional growth and program development.
4. Serve as field supervisor for Audiology doctoral students.

Managing Audiology Office:
1. Oversee department inventory and supply orders.
2. Schedule equipment calibration and repair.
3. Recommend purchase of new equipment.
4. Evaluate quality and expectations of all aspects of the Audiology Department.

Interfacing:
1. Conduct inservice workshops for teachers or other staff members on such topics as amplification, identification of hearing loss, and management strategies for children who are hearing impaired/deaf.
2. Review IDPH hearing screenings from school mass screenings.
3. Participate in the admission and placement procedures as requested.
4. Provide consultation to teachers as requested.
5. Work with community agencies as necessary for the provision of medical care, amplification, and education programming.
6. Participate in out-patient programs as appropriate in terms of community needs as time permits.
