POSITION SUMMARY
WIL-Surge is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team and support the contract and financial aspects of the business, as well as a commitment to the continued success of the company. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Specific responsibilities will include the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage construction contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
Manage contract modifications, claims, and disputes, ensuring effective resolution and risk mitigation.
Maintain detailed contract records and ensure timely updates to project management systems.
Maintain and track all costs related to construction projects and maintain job costing schedules.
Analyze cost data to identify cost savings opportunities and support process improvement initiatives.
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
Manage fixed asset reporting, including depreciation schedules and asset capitalization.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and internal policies.
Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls, financial systems, and financial procedures.
Assist in audits and liaise with external auditors.
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Assist with special projects and perform all other responsibilities, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or field-related experience.
At least five (5) year's professional accounting experience is required, along with prior experience in construction is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Must possess the ability to manage a team and work well with employees at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and business ethics with a strong sense of confidentiality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including advanced Excel knowledge is required.
Proficiency in Deltek Computerease construction accounting software a plus.
