VitalCore Health Strategies, (VCHS), an industry leader in correctional healthcare, has a full-time Monday-Friday position for a *Nurse Practitioner II at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women *in Troy, VA*. *

*NURSE PRACTITIONER POSITION SUMMARY*
The Nurse Practitioner (must be autonomous) utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus while working with healthcare professionals/security officers to provide basic medical services in a correctional environment.

*NURSE PRACTITIONER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
* Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
* Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
* Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
* Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
* Documents all healthcare contacts.
* Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
* Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
* Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
* Attends training and meetings as required.

*NURSE PRACTITIONER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*
* Graduate of an accredited college/university NP program
* Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of Virginia.
* Credentialled to work autonomously.
* Experience in Correctional desired but not required
* Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.
