Position available for Casual Recreation Therapy Assistant.

Hours: Wednesday - Friday, may work weekends and holidays.

Pay scale for Casual Employee: $19 - $20

Must be 25+

We are a 24/7 facility therefore one must be able to work weekends and holidays as required. All applicants are required to complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice. The background search includes minor misdemeanors and DUIs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitate and host programs. Teach and lead planned activities, using materials and equipment provided. Some activities will require prior planning and gathering of materials.
Develop new programs based on residents interests.
Assist Recreation Therapy Manager to contact and schedule entertainers for events.
Assist residents with technology issues as requested.
May supervise and train interns with proper certification.
Assess the individual recreation needs for Residents in Independent Living and keep records.
Ensure classes are covered in the absence of RT staff.
Coordinate with RT manager and RT team for special events.
Responsible for supplies and organization of supplies.
Create all flyers, set up requests and purchase decorations for all special events.
Assist decorate, facilitate, and plan all special events in IL and AL as listed in the special events calendar.
Facilitate IL Resident Association and respond to their requests as needed.
Assist with Assisted Living assessments and room visits as assigned by RT Assistant Manager or RT Manager as needed.
Will be required to transport residents in company vehicle and assist with trips as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Enjoy working with the public
Must have valid driver license
Must be 25+ years old due to automobile insurance requirements
Experience in recreation preferred but not required
Must be able to work some weekends and holidays
Ability to read, speak and write the English language in order to understand instructions and communicate effectively with staff and residents.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism; display a courteous, friendly and helpful attitude; must demonstrate understanding, patience, tact and courtesy with residents, families, visitors and/or co-workers.
Possess the ability and willingness to work as a team member and collaborate with all staff members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to move freely throughout the facility and able to lift up to 20 pounds to handle supplies. Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking when attending events (must be able to be on feet more than 5 hours per day). Contact with residents under wide variety of circumstances.
