Attorney - civil litigation (3 years' experience and defense required)

Our medical malpractice defense firm is seeking an experienced civil litigator to join our team. The *Attorney - Civil Litigation (Defense)* will manage an active caseload from intake through resolution, partnering closely with partners, nurses, paralegals, and staff. Ideal candidates bring strong defense-side experience, excellent writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to drive matters forward with autonomy.Apply below after reading through all the details and supporting information regarding this job opportunity.Key Responsibilities* Ethically, responsibly, and autonomously manage day-to-day case operations with minimal supervision; escalate material issues to partners as appropriate.* Track and manage case deadlines (including answers, discovery, motions, and court-ordered schedules).* Draft and finalize pleadings and discovery (answers, discovery requests and responses, disclosures, productions, deposition summaries, and motion practice).* Oversee and coordinate nurse, paralegal, and secretary staff to ensure clear task delegation and timely execution.* Attend and cover depositions; prepare detailed deposition reports and case assessments.* Coordinate and conduct calls with expert witnesses; assist with expert strategy and preparation.* Review and analyze medical records; collaborate with nurses and paralegals to organize expert packets and case materials.* Prepare for trial, including pretrial filings, exhibit and witness preparation, and trial notebooks; attend and participate in trial.* Meet billable expectations: 1,950 hours per year (162.5 hours per month).Required Qualifications* *Attorney - Civil Litigation (Defense):* Minimum 3 years of civil litigation experience on the defense side.* Active and in-good-standing *Georgia Bar License*.* Proven experience drafting pleadings, managing discovery, taking/defending depositions, and handling court appearances.* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume docket with strong attention to detail and deadlines.* Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.Preferred Qualifications* 2–4+ years of medical malpractice and/or civil litigation defense experience.* Prior trial preparation and courtroom experience (state and/or federal).* Experience working with expert witnesses and medical record analysis (assisted by our nurses).Skills for Success* Strategic case management and litigation judgment.* Exceptional written communication and persuasive motion practice.* Deposition preparation, coverage, and reporting.* Expert coordination, including medical record analysis and synthesis.* Team leadership and cross-functional collaboration with nurses, paralegals, and administrative staff.* Organization, time management, and deadline control under billable metrics.* Professionalism, integrity, and client service orientation.Why Join Us* Competitive compensation: From $100,000.00 per year.* Meaningful, hands-on litigation experience with supportive partner mentorship.* Opportunity to own your caseload and contribute to strategy in a collaborative defense team.Benefits* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Parental leave* Retirement plan* Vision insuranceJob Type: Full-timePay: From $100,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Parental leave* Retirement plan* Vision insuranceExperience:* civil litigation attorney: 3 years (Required)License/Certification:* Georgia Bar License (Required)Work Location: In person
