Under the direction of an administrator or manager, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains the college’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and its integrations with external systems to support the college’s business processes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Business Analyst II classification is the journey-level professional classification within the Business Analyst series. The Business Analyst II is distinguished from the Business Analyst I in that the latter is the entry-level classification and assists with the execution of assigned routine activities related to the area of assignment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Essential responsibilities are designated by *.

Participates in the regular operation of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Creates, maintains, and assigns tasks in the Product Calendar
Executes tasks assigned to Information Technology (IT) in the Production Calendar.
Chairs the ERP Steering Committee.
Performs advanced end-user account management, including but not limited to creates new roles and modifies permissions for existing roles.
Creates and modifies complex reports.
Creates and maintains documentation of existing business processes and technical workflows.
Assists with first-level support for business processes and technical workflow issues within the ERP system; escalates business process and technical issues to vendor support, consultants, or Systems Programmer Analysts, as appropriate.
Participates in initiatives and projects to improve, upgrade, and create new functionality within the ERP system.
Analyzes existing business processes and identifies opportunities for automation or ways to improve process efficiencies.
Develops functional requirements for business processes and technical requirements for technical workflow.
Serves on ERP-related project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Trains end-users on the implementation of new or improved processes within the ERP system
Stays up to date on vendor roadmaps, emerging technologies, and changes in requirements within the California Community College system.
May backup the Systems Analyst Programmer, when needed.
Performs related duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology or related discipline; OR
Associate Degree with coursework in computer science, information technology or related discipline; AND
Two (2) years of equivalent experience in business analysis.
Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and certifications in Business Analysis and/or Project Management.
Experience with business processes associated with Accounting Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Human Resources, and/or Student Services.
Experience with business analysis tools and techniques such as Business Process Modeling *(BPM) and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT).
Database Management Systems such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with a variety of computer systems, ERPs, and Student Information Systems (SIS) such as Banner, DegreeWorks, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Canvas.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others during the course of work.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May be required to possess or demonstration an ability to obtain, a valid driver license, if driving is required as an essential responsibility of the position.
May be required to travel for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, workshops, and/or events in support of the overall objective of the position.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this classification, employees are regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; talk or hear, in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, operate personal computers and other standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms; bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to file materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to distinguish basic shades and colors and the ability to adjust focus. Employees are frequently required to walk and stand and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
