The Central Sterile Educator supports Operating Room and Central Sterile teams at Stamford Hospital main campus.

Under limited supervision, develops and implements educational programs for Central Sterile staff. Evaluates and revises orientation, continuing education, in-service training, and quality assurance processes based on identified needs, policies and procedures, and current best practices.

Schedule: 11am to 7pm- Monday through Friday Flex shift- Full time.

Essential Job Functions:

Supports Operating Room and Central Sterile teams in preparation and readiness of instruments, scopes, case carts, and other needs.
Coordinates, plans, implements, and evaluates CS educational programs designed to meet the assessed needs of Stamford Health in continuing effort to ensure quality care and maintain current standards of practice.
Utilize current standards such as AAMI, AORN, SGNA, and APIC.
Oversees and assesses the activities of the Central Sterile department personnel regarding proper preparation, packaging, handling, decontamination, sterilization, stocking and delivery of all supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Oversees and assesses the activities of flexible endoscope training, reprocessing, and cleaning verification processes for these devices to ensure that current standards and guidelines are being utilized.
In the absence of the manager, is capable of assuming the leadership and 24 hour accountability for the activities of the department. Collaborates in monitoring financial and resource management.
Provide educational opportunities based on staff needs departmental operations, and updated standards.
