Veterinary technicians at MPMC are leaders and teachers - leading the non-DVM clinical team with hands-on treatment of our patients, you work together with doctors and veterinary assistants in all assessment, treatment, and care of our valuable patients and their families. You will be responsible for providing in-hospital monitoring and treatments to patients, using your technical skill to obtain appropriate imaging and diagnostic samples, keeping accurate records, and effectively communicating with other teammates on the reception team, our veterinary assistants, and veterinarians.

We are a united and talented team that sees patients during regular daytime hours as well as on an urgent care basis. The ideal candidate will be willing to work as late as 7 pm on some afternoon shifts as well as work shifts on rotating Saturdays. We're looking for someone confident and responsible, who is familiar with all different types of pets, from dogs and cats to exotic companion mammals and reptiles. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with all animals and assisting with treatment of pets in a compassionate, Fear Free manner, advocating for our patients as a vital part of the healthcare team, as well as communicating and educating our patients' owners.

Magrane Pet Medical Center is looking for a registered veterinary technician (RVT) to join us as a valuable team member that improves the lives of our patients, strengthens our team, and supports our clients in their pet's healthcare.

As an RVT at Magrane, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, safely and effectively anesthetizing and monitoring surgical patients, to support services including admitting and discharging patients with your own technician appointments.

Role Responsibilities:

Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the rest of the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow using Fear Free techniques.

Assist with surgeries, dentistry, and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.

Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on healthcare options, medications, and additional treatments.

Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.

Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts for technician appointments - our technicians do not assist doctors in the exam room - they have their own technician appointments You have autonomy to use your skills appropriately

Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.

Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

Veterinary technician licensure required

1 year of clinical experience, though willing to consider candidates with credentials and no significant experience, with an willingness to learn

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program strongly preferred

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay rate starting at $21/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
