Abilene Family Dentistry focuses on the oral-systemic connection and helping our patients achieve a higher state of oral health through dental treatments and services, including implants, periodontal therapy, and full-mouth rehabilitation. Dr. Webb, Dr. Awtrey, and the rest of our qualified staff are looking for an experienced Registered Dental Hygienist to join us full-time. The dental hygienist will provide each patient with consistent, high-quality care, emphasizing disease prevention. The ideal hygienist will have a positive, team-oriented outlook, effectively coordinating with the dentists and staff for the benefit of our patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Prepare treatment room and office equipment at 7:45 am according to procedures.
* Set up the treatment room and trays. Prepare the room for treatment in advance of appointments. Maintain adequate supplies in the treatment room.
* Prepare and dismiss patients for dental hygiene treatment in a professional and timely manner.
* Communicate with patients about their concerns. Inform and educate patients about nutrition, disease, prevention, treatment options, and home health care.
* Evaluate the patient’s oral health. Perform extra-oral and intra-oral cancer exams.
* Document the patient’s condition through radiographs, periodontal charting, and extra-oral and intra-oral photographs.
* Perform clinical treatment (prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, debridement, periodontal maintenance, scaling with gingival maintenance, fluoride application, laser treatment) with the appropriate standard of care.
* Schedule patients for both their next hygiene visit and restorative visits.
* Present financial agreements and discuss the estimated costs of dental treatment with patients.
* Accurately record details of the patient’s visit in the clinical notes, including vital signs, medical and dental histories, treatment provided, patient concerns, and treatment plan. Clinical notes must be completed and signed at the end of the date of treatment.
* Use computer software (Dentrix, YAPI) to post procedures and document the patient’s status in time with their visit.
* Disinfect room and sterilize instruments according to OSHA standards.
* Follow safety and infection control procedures as required by OSHA.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
* Perform routine maintenance on dental equipment
* Assist team in other areas as needed (sterilization, patient communication).
* Attend continuing education courses and seminars as required, including in-office training.
* Complete other duties as assigned by management.
* Preferred nitrous certified
* Active Texas state dental hygiene license and CPR certification
* Work hours: Monday - Thursday 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
