*1. Position Summary*
The Radiological / CT technologists utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients’ internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT technologist must be able to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position the patient to capture the appropriate images following procedures and protocols set forth by the department and hospital.
*2. Qualifications*
*a. Education:*
· Graduate of a formal Accredited School of Radiological Technology
· Registered as a Radiological Technician by the ARRT. or Registry eligible (Must pass registry within 6 months of hire)
· Advanced certification as a registered CT Technologist as established by the ARRT
· Maintains licensure/certification through continuing education
· BLS Certified
*The following functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties performed by the position recipient:*
a. Verify patient identification and physician’s orders prior to performing any procedures.
b. Acquire CT images using correct technical factors. Evaluate quality of images.
c. Start and maintain IV access for CT procedures. Utilize and monitor dual power injector.
d. Calculate, prepare, and administer proper contrast as prescribed by authorized physicians
e. Use PACS systems properly. Images are sent and patient information is entered into the system. Troubleshoot equipment and communicate needed information to the Director.
f. Educate, assist, and oversee the clinical training of student Technologists.
g. Accurately prepare patient’s study for interpretation by the interpreting physician (including presentation of any pertinent medical history) and verify that all images are correctly entered and are available on PACS.
h. Keep imaging areas neat, clean, and supplies stocked.
i. Always ensure patient confidentially and safety.
j. Keep up-to-date of knowledge of techniques, skills, current practices, and regulation appropriate to the age of the patient served including infant, toddler, school age, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
k. Maintain equipment and room in good operating condition. Troubleshoot equipment problems and aid in coordinating repairs and rescheduling patients as necessary. Notify Director and/or Lead Technologist of any equipment malfunction.
l. Attend Radiation safety training per protocol. Follow established procedures such as: limiting radiation exposure when possible, turning in film badges in a timely manner, etc.
m. Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s Standards of Behavior.
n. Attend hospital in-service programs and department meetings.
o. Work in the spirit of teamwork.
p. Perform the duties of a Radiological Technologist or assist in other areas as needed.
q. Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
r. Rotate through Dosher Memorial Hospital’s Ortho Imaging Suite and medical plaza as requested. Acquire x-ray images and process paperwork per protocol.
s. Perform other duties as assigned.
t. Attend and participate in 3 scheduled staff meetings and any mandatory meetings. Read meeting notes and initial them if unable to attend.
u. Support and participate in quality initiatives as required.
v. Perform clerical duties, transport patients as required, process images and maintain proper inventory of supplies.
w. Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s proper dress code which includes the wearing of name badges.
x. Maintain a professional rapport with patients, visitors, doctors, staff, and other departments.
y. Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance. Support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Department(s) and assess areas of personal and professional growth.
