About this position

Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue sections for pathological examinations. Provides and communicates information to authorized sources.

Requirements

Education

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or, prior to April 24, 1995 qualified as a technician according to CLIA's 'Grandfather' provision or, has equivalent experience and been deemed competent.

Experience

• Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital required. • Ability to perform assigned histology duties which include embedding, cutting, and staining.
• Ability to assist pathologist with gross specimen analysis.
• Knowledge of common special stains.
• Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate.

Licensure/Certification

ASCP certification or equivalent required within 6 months of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment - NMHC Standard
