Responsible for the assessments and/or coordination of assessments of all residents and completion of MDS forms in accordance with State and Federal regulations and facility policies.
Responsibilities:
Obtains The Necessary Information To Perform A Thorough And Accurate Assessment In The MDS Process
Review The Daily Census
Prepares Interim Schedules/ Significant Change For Medicaid And Medicare MDS Assessments Daily
Inputs Data For Medicaid And Medicare In American Health Care Systems From MDS Booklets
Prepares And Transmits MDS/PRI Files To DOH By Using IBM Dialer And Netscape Timely And Accurately
Pulls Quality Indicator Reports From State Software As Required
Files MDS Booklets On Residents’ Chart
Orders Supplies For MDS Office. Inputs All Data PRI Full House, Quarterly’s And Discharges. Distributes Reports To Leadership
Works Closely With Quality Improvement Department
Performs other related duties
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years experience in clinical nursing including two (2) years in performing MDS completion
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch
Ability to read, write and interpret documents
Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions
Ability to stand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/or procedural areas
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers
May be required to operate and clean equipment
May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances
May be required to handle/ assist in lifting patients onto/out of exam beds/procedure stations
Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work
Other: Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding
Licenses, Certifications:
Licensed Registered Nurse with NYS
Physical Requirements:
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue. Incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
