Job DescriptionThe Factory Operations & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for having up to date information to make decisions on higher level priorities and initiatives involving other departments and plant. Helps with ensuring the plant metrics are being met and helps with corrective action when they are not. Acts as a trained replacement during the site director's absence.To set the standard for product quality in our industry by assuring inspection and ballistic standards are consistently met, both directly and through those supervised, and to coordinate closely with Engineering in the development of new products. Communicates expectations and initiates corrective action when goals in these areas are not met. Also functions as a coach and communicator keeping staff up to date on company and department information.This position reports to the Site Director and is based out of our Sweet Home, OR office.As the Factory Operations & Quality Assurance Manager, you will have an opportunity to:Responsible for having up to date information to make decisions or recommendations on higher level priorities and initiatives which may involve other departments and plants.Acts as a replacement during Site Director's absence.Manages site metrics with respect to cost and quality of production, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.May directly supervise employees within the plant.Supervises the routine testing and inspection functions referencing established standards and procedures to assume products meet requirements.Manages all safety issues in the site ensuring that goals are met; anticipates and acts on potential safety problems, completes investigations and reports on a timely basis.Ensures continuous improvement in utilization of plant equipment and facilities recommending and implementing changes in production methods and material handling procedures when necessary.Confers with Scheduler in establishment of schedules that balance customer service with plant efficiency.Process engineering requests on new and/or existing product by assigning employees to perform the requested testing and inspection and provide interpretation of results to assist in new product development and to improve existing product.Participates in the recommendation and planning process for purchase of new capital equipment; manages improvement projects for assigned production area.Collects output data from each operation throughout the shift and takes appropriate action when variances are found.Manages the WIP levels to ensure plan is met as well as production efficiency requirements.Provide analysis on returned products from customer complaints to determine validity and cause of failures and initiate corrective action when warranted.Improve service and support to internal customers and reduce operating costs by proposing and implementing one or two annual improvement projects. Effectively manage labor resource so as to both minimize overtime and maximize coverage.Keeps site management informed of current quality issues via memos, daily, weekly, and monthly reports, and through daily communication.Responsible for the procurement, maintenance, and security of all ballistics test equipment.
