Bus Driver

JOB SUMMARY: Provides direct transportation services for individuals including boarding and disembarking assistance. Perform necessary vehicle maintenance and recordkeeping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to guidelines in accordance with State and Federal Laws, State Licensing requirements and agency policy and procedures. This includes completing all required prerequisites testing and checks as well as attending all ongoing training required by Head Start (15hrs annually).
Maintain accurate, legible, complete records and submit on a timely basis.
Complete required no child left behind checks.
Provides pre and post trip inspections of bus, including but not limited to lifting the hood to check fluid levels of engine, transmission and brakes.
Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus. Be attentive to traffic and weather conditions, while ensuring passenger safety.
Attendance on a regular basis consistent with the BGCAP attendance policy is required. Attendance at mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development is required.
Communicate all transit activities to Transit Leadership Team as instructed per Agency policies.
Respond to clients, providers, drivers, and all other staff and communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
Assist all passengers using proper techniques, including use of the lift as defined in a safe, courteous, professional, and friendly manner.
Provides routine cleaning of assigned bus to maintain a healthy/safe environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: GED or Equivalent preferred. Maintain Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger (P), School Bus (S), and Air Brake endorsements. The ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Basic math skills are essential. Cellular telephone REQUIRED; internet access REQUIRED including a valid Email address. Must have five (5) years safe driving experience and a valid Kentucky driver's license.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
