Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Head of Field Enablement, Training & Effectiveness, the Senior Director of Commercial Training will lead the Commercial organization's efforts to cultivate a high-performing and continuously learning workforce. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing commercial training programs aligned with brand strategy and sales business plans. The Senior Director will work closely with cross-functional leaders to identify skills gaps, foster employee growth, and develop strategic training initiatives that enhance employee engagement, empower employees to be their best, drive business outcomes, and build a culture of learning.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the Commercial-wide training and development strategy that supports business growth, enhances employee capabilities, and drives a culture of continuous learning.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify core competencies required to achieve business goals and integrate them into learning programs.
  • Oversee the analysis of Commercial needs and translate business requirements into comprehensive training programs.
Program Development and Implementation
  • Lead the creation of scalable and innovative training programs across all Commercial teams, including leadership development, disease state, product, and business knowledge, technical skills, and customer engagement skills.
  • Elevate the new hire training process to include more robust content and validation and optimize the structure of the new hire experience.
  • Leverage a variety of training modalities, such as e-learning, instructor-led, blended, and experiential learning, to accommodate different learning styles and maximize engagement.
  • Develop and coordinate training content and facilitation for Commercial Field National Meetings and Plan of Action Meetings including planning and "train the trainer" meetings.
Team Leadership and Management
  • Lead and mentor a team, providing direction, support, and development to drive high performance.
  • Set goals, provide regular feedback, and evaluate performance to ensure team alignment with overall department and company objectives.
  • Cultivate an environment of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation within the training team.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and ROI of training programs, including learning outcomes, behavior change, and business impact.
  • Regularly report to senior management on training initiatives, insights, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Use data analytics and feedback to continually assess and improve training content, methods, and delivery.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in learning and development, integrating relevant approaches into the training strategy.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate training tools and technologies, ensuring they align with organizational needs and enhance learning experiences.
  • Foster a culture of innovation in training design, delivery, and measurement, leveraging advanced tools such as LMS platforms, VR, AR, and AI-driven training solutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with Commercial Effectiveness teams to identify gaps and ensure training aligns to Commercial strategy. This collaboration includes training development, implementation, and leadership of the Field Sales Training Team.
  • Collaborate with internal SMEs and external vendors to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and customized to Commercial needs.
  • Act as a thought leader and advisor to senior leadership on the future of workplace learning.
CAPABILIITIES / COMPETENCIES:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively deliver executive presentations to various stakeholder audiences.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and quickly pivot. Comfortable navigating and adapting to changing business priorities and fostering resilience within the training team
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and use insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to understand high-level sales strategies, translate them into effective learning resources, and drive execution with strong business impact.
  • Proven track record of being able to plan, prioritize, & complete competing projects on time inclusive of problem solving throughout the projects.
  • Demonstrates leadership capabilities; manages high performing team; communicates vision, objectives, and operational plan.
  • Develops and manages to a budget and provides proactive updates on impact to department or corporate financials.Interacts and influences within span of control, negotiating on critical matters.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Typically, 12+ years' experience; 7+ years management responsibility.
  • At least 5 years within the Medical Diagnostic or Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Experience implementing and optimizing Learning Management Systems
  • Proven track record in creating, implementing, and scaling training programs within complex, fast-paced organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire; strong influence skills to collaborate across all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in learning and development
  • Experience in digital learning technologies and/or implementing virtual and remote training solutions
  • Experience in Launch Training
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Routine travel as necessary or required based on business need (including sales meetings, leadership meetings, and mandatory in-person travel), which may include overnight and/or weekend travel and regularly flying on airplanes.
  • After hours and/or weekend work periodically required
