? The Senior Commodity Analyst is the liaison between their assigned division(s) and the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement team. The Senior Analyst is responsible for the timely handling of commodity information requests and providing analysis focusing on consumption and other economic considerations. The work will include developing and deploying complex models, tools, and processes to influence decisions related to risk management, margin enhancement, asset utilization. Effective project management, presentation creation, communication of crucial details to stakeholders, and building and maintaining commodity tracking dashboards and templates are a must. The ultimate goal is to ensure that their assigned division(s) expectations have been met or exceeded while adhering to BJs established policies and procedures. To succeed, it is imperative to build strong relationships with the assigned division and help them to understand and integrate commodity market information within the sourcing process.

  • Provide timely, accurate, and actionable insights to key customers such as the merchant team (Direct) and SS&P(Indirect).
  • Review and scrub historical pricing data and respond to price increases using commodity information sources, analyzing component costing and sourcing recommendations.
  • Develop, enhance, and execute complex tools, models, and processes to forecast and describe price, supply and demand, relative value, and global trends.
  • Create, manage, and review formula and cost model pricing to manage risk, drive efficiencies and cost improvements.
  • Create, maintain, and automate commodity market tracking reports that monitor COGS, Indirect SG&A expenses.
  • Project management responsibilities include maintaining a detailed project plan, regular updates about strategy, adjustments, progress, and measured outcomes to identify areas for improvement
  • Partner with other team members to deliver analysis that maximizes our competitive advantage.
  • Develop, coordinate and support initiatives related to technology and data to predict commodity fluctuations better
  • Proactively identify and provide support to capture cost savings opportunities and explain those opportunities to SS&P and the Merchant team.
  • Provide thought leadership for new data, technology, tools, and innovation.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision while escalating more difficult issues to appropriate staff.
  • Strong communication and negotiation support & skills
  • Knowledge of Powerpoint, Excel and Word
  • Understanding of commodity futures markets and forward curves
  • Strong data analysis, logic, and curiosity skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's Degree Required. 5+ years

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJs Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $74,500.00.
