Adjunct Faculty – Health Informatics

The School of Healthcare Business and Technology seeks an adjunct faculty member to develop high-quality learning experiences and educational content for students in the Master of Science in Health Informatics program. The selected candidate will have responsibilities for developing online courses for graduate students. Subject matter may include health data analytics, database management, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and/or health data science. The successful candidate will work with MCPHS instructional designers to utilize interactive, engaging online learning tools that facilitate student learning of concepts covered in health analytics and artificial intelligence courses in the Health Informatics program.
This position is a remote position reporting to the Assistant Dean for Informatics and Technology.
- Develop course outlines and syllabi for 15-week courses in the Health Informatics graduate program
- Write appropriate course/unit learning outcomes
- Select level-appropriate materials and content for instruction via an online format
- Identify and incorporate resources and experiences that bring “real world” application of course concepts
- Develop and present lectures, short videos, or other instructional approaches
- Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure that the course addresses required program learning outcomes and assessments are appropriately aligned
- Collaborate with MCPHS Instructional Design Staff to develop appropriate course shell
- Work with the Program Director to manage revisions of the outline/syllabus such that it meets the approval of the School of Healthcare Business and Technology Curriculum Committee
- Incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion into the course and co-curricular experiences to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparities
- The supervisor may assign additional responsibilities
Required:
- Earned doctorate in health informatics preferred, MS in computer science (or equivalent) required
- 5 years of work experience in health data analytics, health data management, and public health policy
- 5 years of online or classroom-based teaching experience at the college/university level
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
- Experience developing online courses with an emphasis on interactive, engaging course content
- Demonstrated ability to utilize available data sources to create realistic, hands-on learning experiences for students in an online environment
