SUMMARY: Provide the expertise, knowledge and skills necessary to organize and supervise Loveland Center participants on-site and/or in the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- After School DSP’s must be 18 years or older, possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer at least 1 year of verifiable experience working directly with individuals receiving services in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, childcare setting or individuals who have an intellectual/developmental disability.
PROGRAMS DESCRIPTION: Loveland Center’s HERO After School Program provides a safe, supported, and supervised experience, where children with disabilities can interact, play, and learn. HERO allows for parents and/or caregivers to run errands, work a full day, or just have some time to themselves, while their loved ones are in a supported environment with trained staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fully adheres to Loveland Center’s Code of Ethics and Unifying Values.
- Complete and adhere to all required training courses required by Loveland Center.
- Maintain professional standards of the highest quality with regards to health, safety, program management and public relations.
- Acquire and maintain a proficient level of technological skills as applies to job requirements and industry standards.
- Within the designated area of instruction:
- Implement age appropriate activities, utilizing materials including computers and iPads/tablets, various applications as well as written and unwritten materials.
- Work within prescribed plans for each participant; providing support to reach the desired outcomes for the program.
- Provide needed support as identified in the individualized plan up to and including activities of daily living and personal hygiene support.
- Document each participant's daily activities according to the plan.
- Understand and provide support needed related to all aspects of skills development.
- Be a role model for and guide participants in understanding and developing good habits and social skills.
- Supervise participants at all times during the program operation hours.
- Transport participants as assigned by the HERO Director of ADT Services.
- Participate in training and ensure state-mandated training/annual continuing education requirements are met. First Aid, HIV and CPR certifications must be kept current.
- Attend in-service training days and staff meeting(s) as required for effective planning and programming.
- Maintain/keep all equipment in a safe and good working condition.
- Perform all other duties not specifically identified, as assigned by the Director of ADT Services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that would normally be met by a Direct Support Provider (DSP) to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, staff are regularly required to communicate and see, and are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands.
- HERO staff are occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that a DSP may encounter while performing the essential functions of their jobs. Primarily, staff are subject to indoor conditions and subject to low to moderate noise levels with periodic disruptions in routine, while also subject to various outdoor settings.
