- The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will work to create and enforce a culture of safety within the organization by implementing programs, policies, and assessments to ensure SSP complies with all federal and internal health and safety rules.
- Adheres to all SSP policies, procedures, and practices and follows supervisor directives consistently, respectfully, professionally, and effectively in a manner reflecting the quality expectations and standards of conduct of SSP.
- Establish and monitor internal and external customer satisfaction metrics, driving programs for system upgrades and improvement.
- Coordinate safety program for the facility including compliance with governmental regulations.
- Evaluate, assess, and alter safety procedures and policies.
- Risk Management including oversite of reserve process.
- Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts.
- Investigate all incidents, oversee 5 why process, corrective action, and problem-solving.
- Track incident metrics and apply findings.
- Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees.
- Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.
- Oversee the applications for and receipt of necessary permits.
- Lead injury and incident inquiries and evaluations.
- Manage the ergonomics program and coordinate EHS-related activities in the Continuous Improvement Workshops.
- Conduct inspections of the workplace for safety issues and concerns.
- Review all new equipment and processes for regulatory compliance.
- Maintain files and records.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of EHS-related experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Heavy manufacturing environment preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree (Industrial/ Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Engineering) - OR - Associate degree and 4+ years previous EHS experience in lieu of degree.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule across three-shift operations.
- Experience with SC Worker’s Compensation Law.
- Ability to train, influence, and motivate team members.
- Moderate physical effort is required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting & grasping.
