Summary: Provides leadership, consultation, strategic operational plans, and direction to breeder technicians to produce pullets/hens. Performs administrative duties in preparing and maintaining records, reviewing production reports, and following through on deviations from expected results and set goals for the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages breeder and pullet department personnel in carrying out the approved programs.
- Performs administrative duties in preparing and analyzing reports and records.
- Develops breeder and pullet production budgets.
- Manages and maintains yearly pullet flock placements
- Sets up and monitors vaccination crews and moving crews
- Actively pursues acquisition of information and/or skills related to management of breeder operation.
- Selects and holds accountable breeder and pullet service technicians and other subordinates.
- Manages the learning and training experience of subordinates to continually improve their knowledge and skills.
- Keeps upper level director informed with timely and sufficient information in production.
- Maintains close and effective working relationship with hatcheries, feed mills, service technicians, labs, contract producers, vendors, accounting and government agencies.
- Performs other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages all employees in the Breeder Service department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in agriculture, science, business or related area; and five years progressive experience as service technician or equivalent.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contract Management systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid Driver's license and be able to qualify for the company’s driver program.
Other Skills and Abilities: Skilled in interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, group presentations, and group problem solving.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
