FULL-TIME JOURNEYMAN POSITION:
POSITION SUMMARY:

Electrical Contracting Corporation is looking for an Electrician Journeyman/Senior mechanic needed for Long Island based company with commercial/government projects in Nassau, Suffolk County and some territory in the surrounding Tri-State area.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Regular attendance at assigned location; may include shop or another project site.
  • Must have 7-10 year of experience in the electrical field and the ability to work projects without any issues.
  • Residential and commercial installations, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of electrical systems.
  • Prepare sketches showing location or wiring and equipment, or follows blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring  is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using such tools pipe threader and conduit bender.
  • Oversees or participates in wire installation with conduit and cable trays.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as motor, and installs grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, ammeter, and oscilloscope.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment of system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications. Understanding of repairs of fire, water, and power surge damage to electrical systems. Knowledge of electrical codes is a must and utility rules. 
  • Ability to work on an individual basis without the need of supervision.
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by workplace leader.
  • Participate in site housekeeping.
  • Travel when needed and overnight projects
  • The journeyman is responsible for ensuring the work van is fully stocked for all projects and to be replenished by their electrician apprentices.
  • Responsible to follow through with all paperwork required that is part of the job such as work orders, images, receipts, etc.
  • Creating job reports including work done, work remaining, and material needed.
  • Must maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality.
  • Must have clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Must have own hand tools and able to work with other team members.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Overnight as required.
  • Must represent themselves and the company in a professional manner all the time.
  • Willingness to travel - 100% required.
  • Additional duties as directed by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 6 ½  years’ experience in Commercial and Residential.
  • Low voltage (CAT VI, COAX, FIRE ALARM, ETC.).
  • Knowledge of all NYS codes and able to navigate a code book and PSE&G Red book.
  • Driver’s License.
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Trade school certificate or apprenticeship.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.

SCHEDULE:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Travel when required
