JOB SUMMARY:
- Responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner.
- Their duties include hiring construction workers and trade professionals to perform specific tasks, monitoring budgeting expenses for workers, supplies or tools and reviewing laws and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship.
- Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Manage projects onsite and host meetings with teams of Construction Workers to establish project deadlines, safety procedures, work schedules or payment details.
- Initiative for generating their own business opportunities and being proactive in locating new clients.
- Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to lower-level managers, subcontractors and construction workers.
- Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details with other building specialists.
- Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings.
- Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start.
- Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved.
- Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
SAFETY:
- Works safely at all times and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions.
- Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed.
- Adheres to proper security procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from the Superindendent.
- The position has formally assigned supervisory responsibility or authority.
- Must complete jobs without constant supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The principal duties of this position are performed in an indoor and/or outdoor environment. Works standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Steps, stoops, crawls, climbs, lifts, bends, kneels, pulls, and pushes while performing job duties such as heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 55 pounds.
- Physical work is a primary part of the job.
- The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, cleaning chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING POLICY:
- This position is subject to the DLP Services LLC, Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes Post-Accident Testing, Random Testing, and/or Reasonable Suspicion Testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial construction.
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Experience in the Design-Build methodology of project development is preferred·
- Experience in Education and Commercial Construction is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening.
- Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices.
- Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies.
- Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
- In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
- Great problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal setting, and conflict management.
- Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
