The City of Matthews, Missouri is accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer.
 City of Matthews is a town of 600 people, it operates under fourth class city, served by a Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

Job Summary
The candidate will perform police patrol, enforcing all laws including state statues, laws and city ordinances, police related assignments and activities. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrol Officers patrol by car. 

Respond to calls Officers respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, including accidents, domestic disputes, and reported violations. 

Enforce laws Officers enforce laws, make arrests, and issue citations for traffic or other violations.

Provide service Officers interact with citizens to provide assistance and service. 

Prepare reports Officers prepare and complete reports, records, and other paperwork documenting incidents. 

Conduct investigations Officers conduct investigations, interview witnesses, suspects, and complainants, and testify in court. 

Maintain peace and security Officers maintain peace and security, and may protect parks, public transportation, and local rivers and lakes. 

Provide traffic assistance Officers provide traffic assistance and may direct traffic or control crowds. 

Serve warrants Officers serve warrants.

Appearing in court to present evidence and testimony

Shifts will include flexible hours, nights, weekends, holidays.

Requirements include completion of Missouri P.O.S.T. Class A, valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record, no criminal record, and must be 21 years of age.

Candidates will be subject to background check and drug screening.
