JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Operator.
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager.
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Buffalo Shredding & Recovery (3175 Lake Shore Road, Blasdell, NY 14219).
HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, or 7:30am - 4:00pm.
COMPENSATION: $17-18/hr, based on experience and skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safe Handling and/or moving material.
  • Knowledge of the Excavator/Magnet/Grapple/Loader loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds.
  • Effective communication with all site personnel.
  • Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
  • Daily maintenance of equipment.
  • Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.
  • Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to sit for long periods.
  • Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and typical sounds.
  • Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts.
  • Work outside in the elements regardless of the season.
  • Personal protective equipment required: High visibility clothing, hard hat, hearing /eye protection, foot protection (steel toe boots).
  • Work assigned schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Heavy equipment certification a plus.
  • 2 plus years of heavy equipment operation experience.
  • Organizational skills, able to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently.
  • Team player, able to get along with a diverse group.
