Job Title: CT Technologist, Full-time (Day shift)
Department: Cat Scan
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: Performs a variety of duties in preparing patients for imaging of particular organs to furnish diagnostic information. Operates CT equipment to produce diagnostic results.
Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Skills: Training and experience in radiation safety and protection.
- Experience: A minimum of six months CT Technologist experience is preferred.
Certification/Licenses:
- Registered ARRT.
- Must have current, valid NJ Licensure.
- Advanced CT Certification through ARRT is preferred.
- Registered by the State if NJ Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Environmental Radiation.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Performs all CT Scanning procedures.
- Operates each CT scanner and ancillary equipment thoroughly and with competence.
- Maintains quality control procedures on all equipment.
- Operates all equipment thoroughly and with competence.
- Adheres to ALARA.
- Makes sure images are properly oriented, identified, and marked before transmitting images to PACS
- Assists physician in performing procedures and computer enhancing of images.
- Utilizes aseptic techniques and demonstrates ability to perform intravenous injections.
- Selects proper techniques in imaging on an individual patient basis.
- Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
- Consults with patients to obtain a complete clinical history. Gathers pertinent clinical data.
- Reviews patient charts for proper exam of physician’s orders.
- Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
- Protects self and patients from injury and unnecessary radiation through direct visual observation.
- Differentiates anatomical abnormalities, notifies Radiologist
- Performs all computer processing and imaging to ensure quality enhancement.
- Troubleshoots any problems that occur with equipment before calling for service.
- Assists and transports patients in emergency situations to designated areas.
- Arranges for transportation to and from nursing units.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Incorporates physiological and developmental age of patients into overall plan for delivery of care.
