is a not-for-profit, senior living community and assisted living residence founded in 1992 by the sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, New York. 

Our mission is to provide a supportive environment in which the sacredness of life and the dignity of each person are held in the highest regard and to offer its residents a choice of programs and services which foster independence, promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and maximize opportunities for socialization.

We are currently looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our culinary team as Cafe Attendant. The Cafe Attendant will provide high quality food service to residents, employees, and visitors in a friendly, professional atmosphere while delivering a high-end customer service experience.   
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • All work and employee interaction among themselves and with the residents will be carried out in a manner that is reflective of the values of Dominican Village.  This includes respect of the dignity of each person and a commitment to a continuance of independence of the residents, fostering quality of life with growth and interaction, respect for the rights of residents to privacy and choice, and ensuring a secure and welcoming environment. 
  • Prepares coffee and replenishes as needed. Replenishes condiments and paper goods as needed.
  • Wraps and displays daily baked goods and various sundry items for sale.
  • Operates cash register and/or POS system for sales transactions. Responsible for all cash receipts and related paperwork. 
  • Receives and prepares all resident, employee, and guest food orders and facilitates the processing of these orders with the kitchen personnel.
  • Responsible for restocking paper goods in the break room on the third floor.
  • Responsible for restocking sundries as needed and informing the Food Services Management team when special items are needed (e.g. holiday greeting cards, candy, etc).
  • Maintains Café in a clean, sanitary, and attractive fashion.
  • Responsible for completing any task asked by the Café Supervisor or any other food service manager and/or director. 
  • Open to changes that would further the development of the Café. 
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting any situation at Dominican Village that may result in injury or loss for any resident, employee, volunteer, and/or visitor. This responsibility includes the identification and reporting of any risk or incidents that may affect the business practices and successful operation of Dominican Village.   

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). 
  • One year experience in Food Service with knowledge of Food Safety.
  • Able to deal with difficult customers and diffuse situations 
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sales (POS) software.

Salary Range: $18 - $20 hourly.
