Job Description:
  • The jail accountant/records Clerk works directly under the supervision of the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Jail Administrator.
  • This position's primary duty is to manage public records requests, ensure all requests are dealt with promptly, maintain the inmate trust account, and manage spreadsheet reports and data logs of the trust account.
  • Other duties include general office and clerical work within the Sheriff’s Office or detention center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data Entry. Prepares reports for the public and other agencies.
  • Answers phones, routes calls, bank account reconciliation, spreadsheet data input, daily deposits, tribal billing, Department of Corrections, billing, and provide basic information when requested. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Billing and/or accounting experience preferred.
  • Prepare yearly budgets and expense reports for the administrator.
Other Skills:
  • Working knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic, punctuation, and grammar; office practices and procedures; report preparation and typing; filing and records maintenance, skills in maintaining bank accounts, creating budgets and expense reports, operating various office equipment; general understanding of policies and procedures.
  • Control and maintenance of filing/record systems, ability to enter, compile, and prepare data reports, accurate in complex proofreading, working knowledge of keyboard devices, and data processing systems.
  • Ability to make computations with speed and accuracy. 
Preferred Experience and required skills:
  • General office and accounting experience preferred.
  • The applicant should possess skills in preparing budgets, and be highly proficient in Excel, spreadsheet creation, and checkbook reconciliation.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED.
