We are high-paced, multi-doctor practice that is open 7 days a week. With 1-2 doctors on staff a day, we are seeking a driven, reliable, detail-oriented and well-versed individual to join our team as a Kennel Assistant. We serve our surrounding communities as a full-service veterinarian. We proudly provide high quality care and medicine to our patients and are looking to grow our team This is an entry level position, experience is preferred but willing to train the right individual. (eventually expanding hours, weekend hours will be required)
Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Assist doctors & technicians with various tasks from animal handling to cleaning, etc.
- Clean cages, runs, including exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery areas as needed.
- Provide clean bedding, water, and litter pans for patients.
- Wash and sanitize pet dishes.
- Feed and occasionally assist in medicating hospitalized pets.
- Perform laundry and sanitization of towels, gowns, surgical instruments, etc.
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
- Clean all counters and all other surfaces.
- Keeping the grounds and common areas clean
- Daily sanitizing/disinfection protocols for kennels, treatment and common areas, and equipment
- Recognize potentially sick animals or behavior changes and alert DVM on duty
- Keeping hospital supplies stocked throughout the hospital
- A willingness to help
- Compliance with procedures, policies, and rules
- Ability to work without supervision, if needed
- Monitor, and maintain animals under anesthesia.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to high-pressure situations, and be accepting of constructive criticism
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
STANDARD EXPECTATIONS:
- Uphold ethics and emphasis on sanitation and sterile technique.

- Ability to escalate feedback to management rather than partake in workplace gossip.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Ability to efficiently multitask in high-stress environments (i.e: high telephone volume, emergencies, and euthanasia).
- Maintain telephone traffic and appointment scheduled promptly.
- Maintain proper paperwork and medical records as required by law.
- Comfortable using multiple digital platforms (i.e: Windows, Cornerstone, Gmail, and Google Drive).
- Efficiently execute all steps of AVMC's standard operating procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous Veterinary experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with IDEXX's Neo Software and IDEXX Labs is highly preferred.
- Willing to train the right individual that is eager to learn.
