Title: Senior Accountant (Volunteer)Location: Shelton CTDuration: Long term partnership with high visibility

Objective:
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of this NFP. This volunteer position is vital for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
    • Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Monitor budgetary compliance and provide financial insights to management.
  2. Audit and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and NFP guidelines.
    • Assist in preparing for audits and work with auditors to address any financial inquiries.
  3. Grant Management:
    • Manage the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
    • Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of grant activities.
  4. Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and support organizational goals.
    • Work closely with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
