SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Dining Room Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities in the dining venues throughout the community, ensuring high levels of resident satisfaction. This role involves supervising meal service procedures, coordinating with production staff, managing inventory, and leading the dining team. The Dining Room Manager works closely with community leadership to support overall community goals and enhance the dining experience for residents.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass State and Company criminal background/drug screens.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a dining management role, preferably in a senior living or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing food service operations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • CPR certification desired.

Must demonstrate competency in the following areas:
  • Read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Interpret and implement written or oral policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ability to move throughout the dining areas and engage with residents and staff.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. People Leadership:
  • Coach, develop, and provide feedback to dining team members, recognizing high performance and managing performance issues.
  • Ensure new hires complete onboarding training, particularly compliance-related training.
  • Enter team member schedules into OnShift.
  • Conduct effective and efficient onboarding and orientation of new team members according to FVE expectations.
  •  Provide regular 1:1 meetings with team members and review action plans based on comment cards biweekly with the Executive Director. o Deliver timely performance reviews and merit adjustments.
  • Participate in monthly team member meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Participate in and provide recommendations for the hiring and potential disciplinary actions for dining team members.
2. Resident Experience:
  • Coordinate all activities in the dining venues throughout the community, including IL/AL and BTR.
  • Supervise all meal service procedures from the time the resident/guest arrives through departure to ensure high levels of resident satisfaction.
  • Attend monthly dining meetings with residents, following up on resident requests within 30 days.
  • Work with the Food & Beverage Director to create and execute monthly "pop-up" events to enhance resident engagement and satisfaction.
3. Community Leadership:
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and collaborate with community leadership on business transformation and annual processes/activities, such as NOURISH You implementation.
  • Participate in monthly team member meetings and in-service training sessions.
4. Dining Operations:
  • Work with production staff on daily menus, resident counts, and guests scheduled for each meal.
  • Conduct open and closing checklists to ensure shift readiness.
  • Participate in daily line-ups prior to meal service, ensuring all dining team members are present using Compass agendas and providing additional information and direction as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of all items needed to deliver meals to residents, including linen, small wares, and equipment, and work with the Director to order replacement items as needed.
  • Complete monthly sanitation audits and develop plans to correct non-compliant items.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promotes and protects residents’ rights, treats residents with dignity and respect.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all residents is respected at all times (i.e., when answering telephone and/or speaking to co-workers).
  • Approach all residents in a kind, gentle and friendly manner. Respect for the resident’s dignity and privacy is consistently provided. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Demonstrate a courteous, polite, and friendly attitude with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, treats others with dignity and respect and seeks feedback.
  • Attends in-services and educational programs and attends continuing education as required.
  • Respond to the needs of residents, families and visitors by providing immediate assistance.
  • Function as a member of the team, assisting and supporting co-workers as needed.
  • Use personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and all other times indicated by facility policies and procedures.
  • Reports any signs of rodent or pest infestation to the supervisor immediately.
  • Familiarize self with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Universal Worker Precautions for all housekeeping chemicals and cleaning supplies.
  • Reports injury to self and others to supervisor immediately.
  • Participants in the facility’s Quality Improvement program, as directed.
  • Comply with all documentation policies/procedures.
  • Use proper body mechanics when bending or lifting.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with the community’s Infection Prevention policies and procedures. 
  • Know the community’s disaster and fire safety policies and procedures, including the location and correct use of the fire alarm system.
  • Perform all duties according to policy in a professional manner.
  • Comply with community attendance policies.
  • Comply with community dress code policies.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and/or in-service programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequently:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time, carry, reach, bend, finger, grasp and feel.
  • Required to hear and/or write and may be required to move furniture.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally:
  • Lift/move/push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position which includes adherence to strict time constraints.
  • Able to physically assist senior living residents with their activities of daily living.

EXPOSURE RISKS:
  • Is subject to potential exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc., including but not limited to, TB, HIV and Hepatitis B.
