Summary:
The Shop Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing various types of pumps. This position involves tear-down, evaluation, and repair of a wide range of pump models, including AODD pumps (such as Aro, Wilden, Husky, Sandpiper/Warren Rupp), Peerless ANSI pumps, close-coupled pumps, frame-mounted pumps, split-case pumps, and vertical turbine pumps. Additionally, the technician works with brands like Grundfos, Goulds, Blackmer, Iwaki, Finish Thompson, Tonkaflo, Pioneer, Gorman Rupp, Roto-Jet, and Thomas pumps. The technician also handles mechanical seal installations, wear ring machining, and custom fabrication tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Pump Tear-Down and Repair:
  • Disassemble, evaluate, and repair various pump types.
  • Work on AODD pumps, piston-driven pumps, vane pumps, compressor pumps, mag drive pumps, multistage pumps, and self-priming pumps.
  • Familiarity with Grundfos, Roto-Jet, and Thomas high-pressure pumps.
Mechanical Seals and Packing:
  • Install and inspect mechanical seal and packing arrangements during pump repairs or new pump installations.
Custom Fabrication:
  • Machine wear rings, sleeves, impeller wear surfaces, bushings, stuffing box bores, and wear plates.
Base Plates and Guards:
  • Design, engineer, weld, and build custom fabricated base plates for pumps and motors.
  • Create custom guards for belt-driven and in-line pumps.
PVC Pump Systems:
  • Design and build PVC pump systems tailored to customer requirements.
Field Support:
  • Assist with field repairs and pump installations as needed.
  • Provide customer support related to pump issues.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Maintain shop equipment for optimal operability through preventive maintenance.
Building Operations:
  • Address building maintenance and repair tasks when required.
Other Duties:
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs.
